The 2008/09 HRINZ HR Young Practitioner of the Year

Roz Urbahn

Roz impressed the judges with her passion for both her role and for HR as a profession. She talked to us about the need to have a voice at the ‘top table’, the ability to talk the business language and to have a quality team in delivering results.

Roz was nominated by the Executive General Manager of Hudson, Marc Burrage who credits Roz with a new management phrase known as a ‘Rozism’ which is, ‘by who, by when?’ This points to her insistence on commitment to action and accountability.

Mark commented that one of her biggest contributions has been to the organisation’s employer brand. Roz’s work and reputation has been central now to their being seen as an employer of choice in the industry.

Roz has been asked on several occasions to make comment about a number of HR issues in the media. She has fronted on live television, written newspaper articles and has authored a blog for young women known as ‘flossie dot com’. Roz has also been recently promoted to a trans-Tasman role as HR Operations Manager for both Australia and New Zealand.

The judges concur with Roz’s Executive General Manager that ‘Roz is both constructively driving the organisation along the road and personally role-modelling the way to others’.

Congratulations Roz.
