2009/2010 Overall HR Initiative of the Year
The 2009/2010 Overall HR Initiative of the Year
goes to:
NZSki Limited
The panel believes that this initiative has had significant impact within the organisation, and is innovative for NZSki, the snow sports industry and for casualised/seasonal workforces in New Zealand.
As well as increasing company revenue by 169%, NZSki Ltd has significantly contributed to the NZ economy through;
- Increasing the retention of New Zealanders in seasonal employment from 35% and 65% of total staff;
- Formalising qualifications in the ski industry to the extent that these qualifications are recognised overseas and;
- Increasing incentive for two ITOs to work collaboratively.
All of NZSki Ltd work is embracing Government goals of;
- Employing more New Zealanders
- Having qualified people in the workforce and;
- Bringing in overseas funds.
Culture change and strategy has put NZSki on the map as an employer of choice within the snow sports industry and even within the wider tourism industry. NZSki is to be congratulated on the value they put on their staff.
NZSki Ltd used the business to grow the industry, not just the company.
Well done and congratulations to James Coddington, CEO; Kevin Sharpe, HR Manager and the entire management team at NZSki Ltd.
