Fisher and Paykel Finance

The Wellness Program at Fisher and Paykel Finance is part of a longer term strategy to continue to invest in people just as they invest in products and technology. The key to the success of this initiative is the fun and engaging approach used with this program. It is all about getting the mix right to have something for everyone. After running for 12 months the survey results speak for themselves with all initiatives being rated as very good or excellent, the programme has motivated people to make healthier choices and a third of the respondents commented on the positive changes they'd made in their lives as a result of the Wellness Program.

Whilst it is early days with this programme Fisher and Paykel is excited with the opportunities going forward. As the industry grows, Fisher and Paykel can really see the advantage this initiative can give to an employee as part of the attraction and retention strategy.

The judges thought the strength of this programme was its totally holistic approach to wellness. The project showed a good level of research and benchmarking to compensate for the difficulties of evaluating what is essentially a preventative programme that is about stopping issues from arising, rather than fixing known issues impacting the bottom line.

The Fisher & Paykel Finance entry displayed all the attributes of a successful Wellness Programme including regular scheduled interventions, support from Senior Management, internal feedback from Wellness Champions and clear measurement. Those responsible are to be commended on their commitment to the programme and persistence in gaining management support.
