Terry Buckingham
Terry Buckingham has several degrees and certificates in nursing and other health services. He received his Post Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety followed by a diploma in Frontline Management from the NZ Institute of Management and is currently engaged in a Masterate Research Candidate at Eastern Institute of Technology. Terry has worked for health providers nationwide before settling down to engage in workplace Heath and Safety. He is now the senior Health, Safety and Wellness Advisor at Otago Polytechnic.
The judges note that Terry has a passion to make a real difference in the area of Health and Safety and wellness. He is being recognized as an up and coming expert in a field that has a traditional reputation on compliance in an area now being transformed as central to organisations success. Terry not only believes he can make a difference but has set about demonstrating this to his organisation.
Terry’s promotion of simple yet engaging initiatives such as Spring2it and Smoke Free Campus has improved the campus experience for both students and staff alike and his “user” perspective allows him to gain acceptance and buy in at all levels.
