Rowan Tonkin
Rowan Tonkin has a Bachelors degree in Social Sciences, a Masters in Management Studies plus a post graduate certificate in Management Studies. Rowan began work in Human Resources in 2001 at the Bank of New Zealand and has worked for a diverse group of organisations including British American Tobacco and Vodafone. The judges noted that Rowan has for many years been involved in the provision of strategic HR input and initiatives for a number of large and complex organisations. He believes in a partnership approach to the business that never loses sight of his drive to increase people capability within his organisation.
Rowan has been instrumental in driving the HR aspects of NZ’s largest de-merger at Gen i as well as leading corporate engagement initiatives and he has an unwavering focus on leadership development.
It was very tough for the judges to make the call between such an amazing group of professionals, but for the reasons we have already stated, and given that Rowan is widely respected for his work and his involvement in the wider HR community.
